Features of the Old Jamestown Area

The Old Jamestown Area boundaries are (N) the Missouri River; (S)Coldwater Creek, which is just south of Lindbergh Blvd (N. Hwy 67); (W) New Halls Ferry Road; and (E) Lewis & Clark Blvd (Hwy 367).

It is in Unincorporated St. Louis County, just north of the cities of Florissant and Black Jack. Its boundaries are very close to those of the 63034 zip code and to those of Census Tract 2109.01 (now 2109.11 and 2109.12). For information about other areas of north St. Louis County, visit North St. Louis County, Inc.

The Old Jamestown Area includes two St. Louis County Parks -- Sioux Passage and Champ -- as well as the Jamestown Mall at Hwy 67 and Old Jamestown Road.   Pallottine Renewal Center and the Jamestown New Horizons stables are within the boundaries and the Boeing Leadership Center (on the former Desloge Vouziers estate) is just across New Halls Ferry from the Old Jamestown Area.  To the east of Hwy 367 is historic Fort  Belle Fontaine County Park

There are over 6000 single family residences in the area.  Major residential subdivisions are Herman's Orchard, Jost Farms,  Portland Lake, Barrington Downs, Jamestown Farms, and Lexington Farms, and the long established Castlereagh, Afshari Estates, Talisman, and Fleur du Bois. Because of the area's rural nature and the limited access to sewers, many home sites are at least three acres (the minimum size necessary for homes with septic systems). A sizable portion of the area is still in farmland or woodlands. Karst (sinkholes) prevent development of certain areas. Laclede Gas Co. stores natural gas under approximately 9000 acres of the Old Jamestown area.

The Missouri River can be seen at the northern end of New Halls Ferry Road and at the Highway 367 (Lewis & Clark) bridge. In Sioux Passage Park, the river can be seen up close from the new boat ramp area. Glimpses of the Illinois bluffs across the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers are available at various locations in the area. To the south, the St. Louis Arch can be seen from high points.
